Hello, my name is Lindsey.
I am the Family Support Worker with The Hub, a role I’ve been in since January 2025. Before this, I worked across the county for 30 years, supporting families of all shapes and sizes. For the past 12 years, I’ve been based in Coalville, working closely with the majority of primary schools.
I always say I have the best job in the world—where else do you get to meet such amazing people and spend time helping them?
I tell parents and carers that I’m here to help in any way I can—whether that’s offering advice and support with routines or behaviour, attending meetings or appointments with you, or simply being a listening ear.
Forms and paperwork can sometimes feel daunting, but all you need to do is reach out, and I’ll do my very best to help.
Sometimes, all you need is a chat over a cuppa—a problem shared is a problem halved! And if not, we’ll work through it together. I do love a good plan and a list.
At The Hub, we want parents and carers to feel informed, supported, and part of our wider community. Throughout the year, we host and attend a range of events that give families the chance to access advice, share experiences, and connect with others. These include SEND roadshows, parent drop-in sessions, and community events across the region — as well as links to wider opportunities that parents can attend independently. Whether you’re looking for practical advice, wellbeing support, or simply the chance to meet others on a similar journey, these events are a great way to stay connected and empowered.
We’re not directly affiliated with these external events or organisations, but we share their commitment to supporting families and think the work they do is fantastic. We encourage all parents and carers to get involved, join the conversation, and make the most of the support available.
At The Hub, we know that physical wellbeing plays a vital role in overall health, happiness and learning. Staying active doesn’t have to mean structured exercise, it can be as simple as going for a family walk, dancing in the kitchen, or playing a game outdoors. Encouraging regular movement at home helps children build confidence, release energy and improve focus, while also supporting emotional wellbeing. When families get active together, it strengthens relationships and sets a great example for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Here are a few simple ways to get started:
Go for a short daily walk or bike ride together.
Try stretching, yoga, or mindfulness movement after dinner.
Have a family dance-off or play your favourite upbeat music.
Turn household chores into mini fitness challenges.
Spend time outdoors — gardening, ball games, or exploring local parks.
Every bit of movement makes a difference — the key is to keep it fun, consistent, and something you can enjoy together as a family. For more tips, take a look at the infographic below
We endeavour to raise funds via grants, fundraising events and the profits from the tuition. This helps to promote the services and support those who are not yet with an EHCP that need financial support with accessing a suitable learning experience for learners with SEND or SEMH difficulties. This means we can offer the support that schools are not able to provide.
We assist learners who are not financially able to fund private assessments, or tutoring services. Furthermore, awareness building will make the wider community aware of our services and what we have to offer.
We are offering a discounted pricing structure for our service for those who are not able to finance their own assessments.
We will fund some of the placements and assessments from the CIC to help those in need via a secure pot of funds which are allocated via a criteria list that will help us determine who is most in need. This will be monitored and updated quarterly and feedback on our community aspect will be published on our social media and website to promote the support we are offering.
